The west coast of Baja California has been one of my favorite places
to surf and camp over the years. The local fishermen are a good source
of information. In this case, watch-out for sharks!

Surfing and exploring along the west coast of Baja California can be tough.
Rough terrain and desolation add up to solitude.

Another portrait of a traveling surfer. This time on a fishing mission.
I've always enjoyed painting that mix of dessert, ocean and sky.


'Beach Fishing'

The Sygna shipwreck just north of Newcastle is a popular fishing spot.
The area is also believed to be a nursery for white pointers and tiger sharks.

I used a photo from a book on shipwrecks for reference for this Painting.
I imagine the men are launching the boat to begin a salvage operation.
Certainly looks like she had a rough time of it.

The wind and the heat can be relentless.
The elements can be harsh and are not for everyone.
